Therapy Bee periodically welcomes BSW and MSW students who are interested in developing thoughtful, relational and clinically grounded social work practice.

Placements offer opportunities to learn about psychotherapy, supervision and the realities of private practice within a grief-literate, trauma-informed setting.

We look for students who are curious, reflective, open to feedback and willing to approach clinical work with humility rather than certainty.

What you may experience

Depending on your program, experience and stage of training, a Therapy Bee placement may include:

  • Individual psychotherapy with adult clients
  • Clinical supervision and case consultation
  • Grief, trauma and life-transition work
  • Psychoeducation, resource or group development
  • Exposure to ethical and practical aspects of private practice

Clinical responsibilities are introduced gradually and according to readiness, educational requirements and the needs of the practice.

Our approach to student learning

We don't expect students to arrive knowing how to be therapists.

We do expect students to be willing to learn.

That means asking questions, reflecting on uncertainty, receiving feedback, thinking carefully about ethics and boundaries, and learning when to seek consultation.

Who should apply?

We welcome applications from BSW and MSW students completing recognized university field education or practicum programs.

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Are interested in psychotherapy and clinical social work
  • Have an interest in grief, trauma or relational practice
  • Are reflective, reliable and open to supervision
  • Value warmth alongside strong professional boundaries
  • Are comfortable working in a primarily virtual practice

Previous psychotherapy experience is helpful for some placements but is not always required.

Placement availability depends on supervision capacity, client demand and university requirements. The scope of each placement varies according to the student's academic level, previous experience and learning goals. Students completing clinical work receive appropriate supervision and do not practise independently.
