About the podcast

Grief rarely arrives in neat sentences.

Grief Lit explores the places where stories, literature, and lived experience help us understand what clinical language sometimes cannot.

Each episode sits with a different facet of loss — the ordinary and the profound, the expected and the ambiguous, the grief that is witnessed and the grief that goes unseen.

This is a podcast for people who want to think carefully about loss — not to fix it, but to understand it a little more honestly.

The Shoes He Might Need

After Andrea's mother died, her elegant wardrobe moved back and forth between a rolling rack and Andrea's bed for weeks. In this first episode of Grief Lit, that story meets Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking to explore the distance between knowing someone has died and learning to live in a world in which they are gone — and why the things people leave behind can feel almost impossible to release.
